Accessing REDCap Safe Haven (External Users)

Please note: Different organisations run separate REDCap systems. If you have used REDCap for a study outside the University of Cambridge, those login details will not work on our REDCap Safe Haven server, and projects from other REDCap systems will not appear here.

Accessing REDCap Safe Haven for the first time

Before accessing REDCap Safe Haven, you must have a Digital Visitor Agreement in place.

Once your Visitor Agreement has been approved and your REDCap account created, you will receive two emails:

  • An email from redcap@camide.cam.ac.uk confirming that you have been granted access to REDCap Safe Haven.
  • An email from redcap@camide.cam.ac.uk with instructions for activating your University IT account.
    • REDCap Safe Haven uses University of Cambridge IT credentials for user authentication. To set your REDCap Safe Haven password, you will need to activate your University IT account. The password you set when activating your University IT account will be your REDCap Safe Haven password.
    • Note: You will not receive this email if you already have or have previously had a CRSid. If you think you should have received this email, please contact us at helpdesk@camide.cam.ac.uk.

To log into REDCap Safe Haven for the first time, please follow the steps below.

  1. Activate your University IT account
    • Please skip Step 1 if you haven't received an email asking you to activate your University IT account.
    • Follow the link in your activation email, or go to Get Your University IT Account.
    • You will need your username (CRSid) and registration code from the email.
    • The password you set here will be your REDCap Safe Haven password.
  2. Go to https://redcap-camide.srcp.hpc.cam.ac.uk/.
    • You should see the REDCap Safe Haven login screen as shown in the image below.
    • If you cannot see the login screen, please refer to the FAQ section below.
  3. Enter your username and password:
    • Username: Your username is your CRSid. This is a short ID made up of your initials and a number (e.g., abc123). This will have been communicated to you by email.
    • Password:
      • If you completed Step 1, use the password you just created.
      • If you already had a CRSid, use your usual University of Cambridge password. If you've forgotten your password, please refer to the password reset instructions in the FAQ section below.
  4. You’ll then be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA). A QR code will be displayed in the browser for you to scan using an authenticator app on your phone – e.g., Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
  5. Once you’ve registered your device, you’ll be asked to enter a one-time code. The code will appear in your authenticator app under “Secure Research Computing Platform” and will refresh every 30 seconds.
  6. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll find your project(s) under “My projects”.
